Basketball Game Preview: Monterey Bay Academy vs. York Falcons

Monterey Bay Academy will head out on the road to face off against the York Falcons at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Last Monday, Monterey Bay Academy didn't have too much breathing room in their match against Trinity Christian, but they still walked away with a 44-38 victory.

Meanwhile, it was a Battle of the Birds when York took on Anzar on Monday. York took their contest with ease, bagging a 72-34 win over Anzar. The Falcons have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight games by 26 points or more this season.

Monterey Bay Academy better keep an eye on Gianni Zeljo. He was instrumental in York's win, dropping a double-double with 25 points and 12 boards. The match was Zeljo's 13th in a row with at least 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Miles Fadem, who went 6 of 10 on his way to 13 points along with six rebounds and three steals.

York was working as a unit and finished the game with 21 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since the start of last season.

York is on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 12 contests, which provided a massive bump to their 12-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 71.2 points over those games. As for Monterey Bay Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 4-2.
