Softball Game Preview: DuQuoin Indians vs. Anna-Jonesboro Wildcats

The DuQuoin Indians will venture away from home to face off against the Anna-Jonesboro Wildcats at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Anna-Jonesboro took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on DuQuoin, who comes in off a win.

DuQuoin was handed a 11-run loss in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Wednesday. They had just enough and edged out Steeleville 7-6. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Indians have posted since March 21, 2024.

Meanwhile, Anna-Jonesboro has relied on a stalwart pitcher averaging 2.95 runs allowed per game, but that average took a hit on Tuesday. They fell 14-11 to Pinckneyville. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last eight times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Kansas Craig was cooking despite her team's loss, firing off two home runs, four runs, and one stolen base while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Ariana Turner, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and one double.

Anna-Jonesboro's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 18-3. As for DuQuoin, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-15.
