Basketball Recap: Johnson Ferry Christian Academy Takes Down Konos Academy in a Playoff Battle

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Johnson Ferry Christian Academy walked away with it. They were the clear victor by a 75-51 margin over the Konos Academy Condor on Tuesday. Johnson Ferry Christian Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Luke Newman led the charge by going 6-for-11 from beyond the arc to rack up 18 points. Newman is also on a roll when it comes to shooting accuracy, as he's posted one of at least 46% in the last five games he's played. Another player making a difference was Trent Witte, who went 5-for-9 on his way to 12 points along with six rebounds and three steals.

Johnson Ferry Christian Academy was working as a unit and finished the game with 25 assists. They racked up 15 more assists than Konos Academy's also-impressive total of ten.

Konos Academy's loss came despite strong showings from Joshua Knapp and Samuel Brezina. Knapp almost dropped a double-double with 18 points and nine boards, while Brezina went 5-for-10 en route to 12 points and five steals. That was a full 35.3% of Konos Academy's points, marking the third time in a row Knapp has posted more than a third of the team's points.

Johnson Ferry Christian Academy is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-9 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 75.8 points over those games. This is the second loss in a row for Konos Academy and nudges their season record down to 11-15.
