Baseball Recap: Carmel Picks Up Sixth Consecutive Victory

Carmel had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8.4 runs) and they went ahead and made it six on Monday. They walked away with an 8-3 victory over the Salinas Cowboys. That's the third time they've managed to beat them this season, with their most recent win being a 11-0 victory back in April.

Carter Lloyd looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on John Beretti, who fired off two home runs and four RBI while going 2-for-4. Those two home runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Michael Melnick, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

Carmel was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive matchups.

Carmel's record now sits at 20-6. As for Salinas, they have been struggling recently as they've lost 13 of their last 16 contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-18 record this season.
