Basketball Recap: Omaha Central's Luck Changes for the Better on Friday

Omaha Central had lost nine straight, but after bumping their record up to 3-17 on Friday that streak is in the rearview. They secured a 42-38 W over the Omaha Northwest Huskies. That's more bragging rights for the Eagles, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Leading Omaha Central to victory were Reality Mapp and Hadley Anderson. Mapp dropped a double-double with 14 points and 12 rebounds, while Anderson posted ten points and seven boards. The dominant performance also gave Anderson a new career-high in assists (three). Another player making a difference was Legaci McCray, who had four points.

As for Omaha Northwest, they have been struggling recently as they've lost ten of their last 11 matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-13 record this season. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since December 4, 2021, but that streak is no more.

Omaha Northwest lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Zay'Veonna Fulton, who earned five points in addition to 12 rebounds and four blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Ma'Niyia Roby, who scored six points along with 14 boards and three blocks.

Coming up, Omaha Central is taking a road trip to challenge Bellevue East at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Eagles will be up against the Chieftains' rather soft defense (which has allowed 63.06 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Omaha Northwest, they and Fremont will face off at 2:45 p.m. on Saturday without much rest, having both just played.
