Basketball Game Preview: River Valley Blackhawks vs. Fennimore Golden Eagles

The River Valley Blackhawks are taking a road trip to challenge the Fennimore Golden Eagles at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Last Thursday, River Valley came up short against Richland Center and fell 61-52. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Blackhawks came into the matchup with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Wisconsin basketball rankings (they are ranked 107th, while the Hornets are ranked 220th).

Meanwhile, Fennimore was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They were outmatched by Mineral Point and fell 63-35. The Golden Eagles were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 63-0.

River Valley's loss dropped their record down to 5-3. As for Fennimore, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-7.

Everything came up roses for River Valley against Fennimore when the teams last played back in December of 2023, as the squad secured a 58-29 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for River Valley since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
