Softball Game Preview: New Lothrop Hornets vs. Lakeville Falcons

The New Lothrop Hornets will venture away from home to take on the Lakeville Falcons at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

New Lothrop took a loss when they played away from home last Wednesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Monday. They walked away with a 9-5 win over Birch Run. The victory was some much needed relief for the Hornets as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Meanwhile, while Lakeville put up plenty of runs on Tuesday, the same can't be said for Flushing. The Falcons were the clear victors by a 20-0 margin over the Raiders. The Falcons have beaten the Raiders the last four times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Raiders has come to flipping the script.

New Lothrop pushed their record up to 3-4 with the win, which was their 17th straight at home dating back to last season. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.8 runs over those games. As for Lakeville, their win bumped their record up to 8-3.

New Lothrop beat Lakeville 7-4 in their previous matchup back in June of 2024. Will the Hornets repeat their success, or do the Falcons have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
