Basketball Recap: Sandhills Valley Comes Up Short

While it was all tied up 13-13 at halftime, Sandhills Valley was not quite Paxton's equal in the second half on Friday. They fell just short of the Paxton Tigers by a score of 34-31. The loss continues a trend for the Mavericks in their matchups with the Tigers: they've now lost three in a row.

When it comes to explaining why Sandhills Valley lost, don't look at Kyle Kramer. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 11 points and ten boards. Kramer has been hot for a while, having also posted two or more blocks the last 25 times he's played. Another player making a difference was Leyton Connell, who posted seven points and three steals.

Paxton got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Tanner Hebblethwaite out in front who put up nine points and six rebounds. Jasper Brewster was another key player, putting up two points and nine boards.

Sandhills Valley's defeat dropped their record down to 12-5. As for Paxton, their record is now 12-6.

Looking ahead, Sandhills Valley will be playing in front of their home fans against Mullen at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Paxton, they have already played their next game, a 67-40 win against South Platte on the 8th.
