Softball Recap: Church Point Comes Up Short

Church Point was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 6-5 heartbreaker at the hands of the Mamou Demons. If the Bears were looking for revenge after losing 7-3 to the Demons when the teams met back in March of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Church Point saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Rylee Bertinot, who went 1-for-3 with one triple and one run. That triple was Bertinot's first of the season.

Church Point's record now sits at 3-8-1. As for Mamou, their victory ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 5-9-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Church Point will square off against Pine Prairie at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Pine Prairie will roll in looking for their 11th straight win, something Church Point surely won't give up without a fight. As for Mamou, they will challenge Lafayette Christian Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
