Softball Preview: Weldon Chargers vs. North Edgecombe Warriors
The Weldon Chargers will head out to take on the North Edgecombe Warriors at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. North Edgecombe took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Weldon, who comes in off a win.
Last Thursday, Weldon made easy work of KIPP P and carried off a 17-2 win. The victory continues a trend for the Chargers in their matchups with the Pride: they've now won five in a row.
Weldon got a massive performance out of Mazaria McGee, who scored two runs and stole five bases. Another player making a difference was Imani Richardson, who scored a run while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances.
Meanwhile, North Edgecombe was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They lost 25-15 to Wilson Prep.
Weldon's win was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 2-0. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 18.6 runs over those games.
