Basketball Game Preview: Rock Port Blue Jays vs. Mound City Panthers

The Rock Port Blue Jays will square off against the Mound City Panthers at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Rock Port's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last five matches.

Rock Port is headed into the game having just posted their closest victory since November 26, 2024 on Friday. They skirted past Nodaway Valley co-op [West Nodaway/Nodaway-Holt] 63-61. The Blue Jays haven't had any issues with Nodaway Valley co-op [West Nodaway/Nodaway-Holt] recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Rock Port's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Logan Ellis led the charge by putting up 21 points. Those 21 points gave Ellis a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jack Meyerkorth, who went 7 for 13 to rack up 20 points.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Mound City faced off against Worth County on Monday. The contest between Mound City and Worth County didn't end well, with Mound City falling 58-43.

Mound City's defeat dropped their record down to 10-19. As for Rock Port, they pushed their record up to 20-5 with the victory, which was their eighth straight on the road.

Everything went Rock Port's way against Mound City when the teams last played back in January, as Rock Port made off with a 66-46 win. Will Rock Port repeat their success, or does Mound City have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
