Softball Recap: Crystal Lake South Comes Up Short

Crystal Lake South had lost eight straight at home dating back to last season, but on Thursday they dropped their record down to 0-11 to make it nine. They lost 13-0 to the Jacobs Golden Eagles. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Gators of the 10-6 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2024.

As for Jacobs, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-9. Considering they have won six contests by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

For Jacobs' part, the team relied heavily on Olivia Fillipp, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Talia Disilvio, who went 3-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Crystal Lake South is set to take on their familiar foe Dundee-Crown at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Jacobs will face off against rival Prairie Ridge at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
