Basketball Game Preview: Baker County Wildcats vs. Fort White Indians

Baker County is on a four-game streak of home wins, while Fort White is on a six-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Baker County Wildcats will host the Fort White Indians at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Baker County's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last five contests.

It was a proper cat-fight when Baker County challenged Impact Christian Academy on Tuesday. Baker County strolled past Impact Christian Academy with points to spare, taking the game 55-37. Given the Wildcats' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 140th, while the Lions are ranked 398th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Baker County's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Yamise Haygood, who dropped a double-double on 26 points and 12 boards, and Natalia Strachan, who went 9 of 16 on her way to 21 points in addition to six boards and six steals. Haygood has been hot for a while, having also posted two or more steals the last 20 times she's played.

Meanwhile, Fort White ended up a good deal behind Hilliard on Friday and lost 53-38. The match marked the Indians' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Baker County's win bumped their record up to 11-1. As for Fort White, their loss dropped their record down to 9-4.

Everything came up roses for Baker County against Fort White in their previous meeting back in January of 2024, as the squad secured a 67-22 victory. Will Baker County repeat their success, or does Fort White have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
