Preview: South Shore Vikings vs. Independence Patriots
The South Shore Vikings will be staying on the road on Wednesday to face off against the Independence Patriots at 11:00 a.m. on December 20th. Both teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
South Shore is ranked highly in their home state, and last Saturday they took on another highly ranked team in the form of Whitney Young. South Shore secured a 47-42 W over Whitney Young. Despite the win, that was the fewest points South Shore has scored all year.
Independence has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven games by 25 points or more this season. They took their match on the road on Saturday with ease, bagging a 70-25 victory over Millbrook. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 31-10.
It was another big night for Kaylee Carson, who scored 21 points along with eight steals and five rebounds. The contest was her third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Chloe Moss, who scored nine points along with 12 rebounds and five assists.
South Shore pushed their record up to 5-0 with that victory, which was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Independence, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-1.
