Baseball Recap: South Fremont Cougars vs. Marsh Valley Eagles

South Fremont was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They took a 7-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Marsh Valley Eagles. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Eagles this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 13-0 two weeks ago.

Jordan Hammond was huge no matter where he played even without the win. He pitched seven innings while giving up just two earned (and five unearned) runs off nine hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Hammond wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Cy Hill, who scored two runs while going 1-for-3.

The defeat was their first at home , dropping their record down to 7-11. As for Marsh Valley, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 11-1.

South Fremont didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 2-1 victory against Snake River on the 12th. As for Marsh Valley, they have also already played their next contest, a 16-0 win against Bear Lake on the 11th.
