Basketball Recap: Luck Comes Up Short

Luck was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their 11th straight loss. They fell 49-40 to the Cumberland Beavers. The Cardinals were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Beavers apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January of 2024.

Melody Taylor went supernova for Cumberland, dropping a double-double with 12 points and 15 boards. The dominant performance also gave Taylor a new career-high in field goal percentage (55%). Another player making a difference was Macy Beecroft, who went 5 of 8 to rack up 14 points.

Luck's loss dropped their record down to 5-13. As for Cumberland, their victory bumped their record up to 4-16.

Coming up, Luck won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Grantsburg at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Cumberland, they will also get right back to it: they'll square off against St. Croix Falls at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Someone's luck will take a turn for the better: Cumberland has lost four straight at home , while St. Croix Falls has lost four on the road.
