Basketball Recap: Elkin Comes Up Short

If Elkin was feeling good fresh off their 76-34 takedown of Starmount last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Elkin Buckin' Elks fell to the Alleghany Trojans 57-52. The loss continues a trend for the Buckin' Elks in their matchups with the Trojans: they've now lost six in a row.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Alleghany to victory, but perhaps none more so than Colby Crouse, who almost dropped a double-double on 15 points and nine boards. Crouse's evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. John LeMasters was another key player, putting up ten points and eight rebounds.

Elkin now has a losing record at 6-7. As for Alleghany, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 6-5.

Elkin will challenge Mount Airy at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Mount Airy is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 50.4 points per game this season. As for Alleghany, they will head out on the road to challenge Starmount at 7:45 p.m. on Friday. Alleghany is facing Starmount at the right time seeing as Starmount is stuck on a nine-game losing streak.
