Baseball Recap: Benedictine Cadets vs. Greenbrier Christian Academy Gators

Benedictine extended their losing streak to four on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 7-13-1 in the process. They came up short against the Greenbrier Christian Academy Gators, falling 8-0. The Cadets were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Gators apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

As for Greenbrier Christian Academy, the victory was the 16th in a row for them, bringing their record up to 19-1. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 games by seven runs or more this season.

For Greenbrier Christian Academy's part, not much got past Jackson Okonkwo, who gave up just four hits and racked up six Ks to keep Benedictine off the board. Okonkwo has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Thomas Conrad was incredible, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, one run, and one double. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Tyson Moravec, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run.

Looking ahead, Benedictine is taking a road trip to challenge Norfolk Academy at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Greenbrier Christian Academy, they will be playing at home against Nansemond River at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
