Basketball Recap: Elijah Garza's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Buhach Colony over Atwater

Buhach Colony was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They were three points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 46-43 heartbreaker at the hands of the Atwater Falcons. While losing is never fun, the Thunder can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 759th, while the Falcons are ranked 199th).

Buhach Colony lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Elijah Garza, who went 6-for-15 on his way to 15 points and three steals. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in blocks (two). Another player making a difference was Carter Chapman, who posted 14 points and six boards.

Buhach Colony's defeat dropped their record down to 10-17. As for Atwater, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 22-6.

Buhach Colony does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Atwater, they have already played their next game, a 74-44 loss against Antelope on the 19th.
