Emma Quisenberry made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 15 over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two doubles, one stolen base, and two RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Hayden Quisenberry, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That home run was her first of the season.
Meanwhile, Le Grand got the win against Firebaugh on Tuesday by a conclusive 11-1. The result was nothing new for the Bulldogs, who have now won 11 contests by eight runs or more so far this season.
Like Stone Ridge Christian, Le Grand also got a great game from a two-way player: Makayla Leyva. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Those ten strikeouts gave Leyva a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.
In other batting news, Le Grand let Aaliyah Ceja and Karly Reyes run wild. Ceja scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-3, while Reyes scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of Elisa Angel, who scored two runs and stole two bases.
Le Grand's victory bumped their record up to 12-5. As for Stone Ridge Christian, their win bumped their record up to 8-3.
Wednesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Stone Ridge Christian hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .343. However, it's not like Le Grand struggles in that department as they've averaged .410. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
