Basketball Recap: Classical Prep Lions vs. Gulf Buccaneers
Classical Prep was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They took a 54-44 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Gulf Buccaneers. The Lions were probably out for revenge after losing 59-44 to them when the teams met back in February, then they'll just have to keep looking.
Gulf's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Tajinae Bonney, who posted 17 points along with seven steals and six boards. Bonney is crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least four every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Brenniyah Hall, who earned six points along with 11 steals and six assists.
Classical Prep now has a losing record at 2-3. As for Gulf, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 4-1.
Classical Prep didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 50-7 win against Angeline Academy of Innovation on the 9th. Gulf has also already played their next contest, a 69-34 loss against Mitchell on the 10th.
