Softball Game Preview: Chesapeake Panthers vs. Huntington Huntsmen

The Chesapeake Panthers will venture away from home to take on the Huntington Huntsmen at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Chesapeake hasn't scored more than two runs for three games straight, a trend the squad is eager to reverse.

Chesapeake came up short against Portsmouth on Friday, falling 12-2.

Chesapeake saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jaeden Anderson, who went 1-for-3 with one RBI. Kaydence Easthom was another, getting on base in two of her three plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

Meanwhile, Huntington lost 21-3 to Unioto on Wednesday. The Huntsmen have struggled against the Shermans recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive lost meeting.

Savannah Bushatz was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Chesapeake's defeat dropped their record down to 4-10. As for Huntington, their loss dropped their record down to 7-9.

Chesapeake might still be hurting after the 9-3 defeat they got from Huntington when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can the Panthers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
