Soccer Game Preview: Lapel vs. Tipton

The Lapel Bulldogs will square off against the Tipton Blue Devils at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Lapel's defense heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed last Wednesday. Everything went their way against Elwood as they made off with a 6-0 victory. Lapel's defense has been rock solid lately; the team hasn't given up a goal in their last five matches.

Meanwhile, with a playoff win on the line, Tipton rose to the challenge on Tuesday. They blew past the Raiders 10-0. The high-scoring effort was just what Tipton needed considering they were shut out in their previous matchup.

Tipton is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-9-1 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 25 goals over those five matches. As for Lapel, their victory bumped their record up to 15-0.

Lapel took their win against Tipton when the teams last played back in August by a conclusive 4-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bulldogs since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
