Baseball Recap: Carnegie Comes Up Short

After flying high against Cherokee on Thursday, Carnegie came back down to earth. Carnegie fell just short of Covington-Douglas by a score of 7-5 on Saturday. Carnegie was not able to repeat the success they had when they faced Covington-Douglas earlier this season, when they won 4-3.

Stetson West and Chasen Anderson did some serious damage despite the final result: West went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases and two runs, while Anderson went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one double. West has become a key player for Carnegie: the team is 4-2 when he posts at least two runs, but 6-10 otherwise. Ken Whittington was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and one stolen base.

Carnegie's defeat dropped their record down to 10-12. As for Covington-Douglas, their victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 11-11.

Looking ahead, Carnegie will be playing in front of their home fans against Geary at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Covington-Douglas, they will venture away from home to face off against Cimarron at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
