Baseball Game Preview: Tri-Valley Scotties vs. Steubenville Big Red

The Tri-Valley Scotties will take on the Steubenville Big Red in a tournament on Wednesday. The two teams are strolling into their games after big wins in their previous games.

Steubenville will square off against a team with plenty of momentum: Tri-Valley extended their winning streak to five on Saturday. Everything went the Scotties' way against John Glenn as they made off with a 14-3 win. The Scotties might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 16 contests by six runs or more this season.

Kade Hindel made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits. Those eight strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, Brady Kaufman was incredible, firing off two home runs and five RBI while going 2-for-5. That's the most home runs he has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Gavin Harrold, who went 3-for-5 with one triple, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Tri-Valley kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Steubenville got themselves on the board against Zanesville on Monday, but Zanesville never followed suit. They blew past the Blue Devils 6-0. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Big Red.

Tri-Valley's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 22-4. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.3 runs over those games. As for Steubenville, the victory got them back to even at 12-12.

Everything went Tri-Valley's way against Steubenville when the teams last played back in May of 2023, as Tri-Valley made off with a 9-2 win. Will the Scotties repeat their success, or do the Big Red have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
