Basketball Game Preview: Heath Bulldogs vs. Watkins Memorial Warriors

Heath has gone 8-2 against Watkins Memorial recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Heath Bulldogs will be playing in front of their home fans against the Watkins Memorial Warriors at 7:15 p.m. Heath is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 53.3 points per game this season.

Watkins Memorial will be up against a hot Heath team: the squad just extended their winning streak to three. Heath blew past Lakewood 59-37 on Friday. Given the Bulldogs' advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 88th, while the Lancers are ranked 701st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Heath to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jaxon Duston, who went 5 of 8 on his way to 14 points and three steals. Duston has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. Mason Sforza was another key player, going 5 for 8 en route to 11 points and six boards.

Heath smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. They are a perfect 3-0 when they hit their own glass that hard.

Meanwhile, Watkins Memorial came up short against Mt. Vernon on Friday and fell 63-51. The Warriors haven't had much luck with the Yellowjackets recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.

Watkins Memorial's loss dropped their record down to 6-11. As for Heath, their victory bumped their record up to 16-2.

Heath strolled past Watkins Memorial in their previous meeting back in January of 2024 by a score of 48-30. Will Heath repeat their success, or does Watkins Memorial have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
