Volleyball Recap: Living Word Lutheran's Run of Four Straight Victories Now Over

It was a good run, but Living Word Lutheran unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-match winning streak on Tuesday. They fell just short of the Heritage Christian Patriots by a score of 3-2. The Timberwolves were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Patriots apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in October of 2024.

While Living Word Lutheran ultimately came up short, they really made Heritage Christian work, particularly in the first set. The match finished with set scores of 26-24, 15-25, 21-25, 25-16, 15-8.

Eden Roethel paced Living Word Lutheran's offense, picking up 25 kills. Roethel got some help from Emree Kellerman and her 39 assists. Finally, Roethel was also a dominant defender, finishing with a team-high six blocks.

Leading Heritage Christian to victory were Nadia Li and Nina Dorger. Li had seven digs and three aces, while Dorger had ten digs and two assists. That's the most aces Li has posted over her last six matches.

Living Word Lutheran's defeat dropped their record down to 21-5. As for Heritage Christian, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 22-6 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Living Word Lutheran is set to face off against their familiar foe Catholic Central at 6:45 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Heritage Christian will take on rival Lake Country Lutheran at 6:45 p.m. on Tuesday.
