Softball Game Preview: Dixon Dukes & Duchesses vs. Rock Falls Rockets

Dixon is 2-8 against Rock Falls since April of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The Dukes & Duchesses will host the Rockets at 4:30 p.m. Rock Falls took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Dixon, who comes in off a win.

Dixon took a loss when they played away from home on Monday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Byron a 3-0 shutout. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Dukes & Duchesses as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Dixon saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kiley Gaither, who went 1-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. That stolen base was Gaither's first of the season.

North Boone hit Rock Falls with a four-run fourth inning on Tuesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Rockets came up short against the Vikings, falling 13-3. The Rockets have struggled against the Vikings recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost meeting.

Maddison Morgan made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base.

The victory got Dixon back to even at 5-5. As for Rock Falls, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-13.
