After a string of five wins, Avon's good fortune finally ran out on Monday. They took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Gayville-Volin Raiders. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Raiders this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 2-0 on October 4th.
Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-14, 19-25, 25-19, 25-23.
Rilyn Thury paced Avon's offense, picking up 25 kills. Thury got some help from Brielle Voigt and her 36 assists.
Avon's defeat dropped their record down to 17-11. As for Gayville-Volin, the win (which was their 12th in a row) raised their record to 27-4.
Coming up, Avon will head out on the road to take on Bon Homme at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Gayville-Volin does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
