Volleyball Game Preview: Organ Mountain Knights vs. Los Lunas Tigers

The Organ Mountain Knights will square off against the Los Lunas Tigers at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Organ Mountain is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of New Mexico's top teams: Mayfield, who was ranked 24th at the time (Organ Mountain was ranked 23rd). The Knights sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 win over the Trojans on Saturday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Knights.

If you add up the scores from across all five sets (109-108) Organ Mountain actually scored fewer points, but in the end it didn't matter. The final score came out to 19-25, 27-25, 25-21, 22-25, 15-13.

Meanwhile, Los Lunas made easy work of West Mesa on Friday and carried off a 3-0 victory. The win continues a trend for the Tigers in their matchups with the Mustangs: they've now won six in a row.

The match finished with set scores of 25-11, 25-12, 25-16.

Organ Mountain's record is now 14-9. As for Los Lunas, their record now sits at an identical 14-9.

Organ Mountain might still be hurting after the 3-0 loss they got from Los Lunas when the teams last played back in November of 2023. Can the Knights avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
