Basketball Recap: Tyson Odvody Key Part of Team Effort in Warriors Win

Omaha Westside had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They snuck past the Lincoln Southeast Knights with a 56-52 victory on Friday. The win continues a trend for the Warriors in their matchups with the Knights: they've now won three in a row.

Omaha Westside's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Tyson Odvody, who posted eight points and ten rebounds. Odvody is on a roll when it comes to boards, as he's now pulled down ten or more in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Trell Snoddy, who put up 14 points.

When it comes to explaining why Lincoln Southeast lost, don't look at Mike Ngoyi. Despite the final result, he almost dropped a double-double with 23 points and nine rebounds. That's the most boards Ngoyi has posted since back in January. Another player making a difference was Rowan Lambert, who shot 83% from the field en route to 13 points.

Omaha Westside's record now sits at 24-4. As for Lincoln Southeast, the loss snapped their winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 17-9 record.

Coming up, Omaha Westside and Papillion-LaVista South will face off at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday without much rest, having both just played. Papillion-LaVista South knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past 17 contests -- so hopefully Omaha Westside likes a good challenge. Lincoln Southeast does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
