Basketball Recap: Tarpon Springs Comes Up Short

Tarpon Springs played a tough match on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were dealt a 63-22 defeat at the hands of the Palm Harbor University Hurricanes. The loss continues a trend for the Spongers in their matchups with the Hurricanes: they've now lost six in a row.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Palm Harbor University to victory, but perhaps none more so than Devyn Lavelle, who went 8 of 12 en route to 17 points. Leah Barker was another key player, dropping a double-double on 12 points and 12 rebounds.

Tarpon Springs' defeat dropped their record down to 5-13. As for Palm Harbor University, they pushed their record up to 14-6 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home.

Tarpon Springs will square off against Cardinal Mooney on Tuesday. Cardinal Mooney knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past eight games -- so hopefully Tarpon Springs likes a good challenge. Palm Harbor University does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
