Basketball Recap: Nova's Win on Friday Extends Winning Streak to Four

Nova won against Owensboro Catholic last Monday with 61 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Friday. The Nova Titans blew past the Tocoi Creek Toros 61-40. Winning may never get old, but the Titans sure are getting used to it with their fourth in a row.

Leading Nova to victory were Jaelynn Housey and J'Yan Tyrell. Housey posted 27 points and six steals, while Tyrell dropped a double-double on 16 points and 13 boards. Housey has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last 27 times she's played. Another player making a difference was Kyra Paul, who earned six points and three steals.

Nova smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive boards in ten consecutive games.

When it comes to explaining why Tocoi Creek lost, don't look at Audrey Beyer. Despite the final result, she went 7 of 14 on her way to 20 points along with six boards and four blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Caeli Weaver, who had six points.

Nova's record now sits at 11-3. As for Tocoi Creek, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-5.

Nova didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 64-35 loss against Montverde Academy on the 4th. As for Tocoi Creek, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 49-29 defeat against Somerset Academy - Canyons on the 4th.
