Basketball Recap: L.E.A.D. Academy Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Silas Brown and Andrew Holcomb

L.E.A.D. Academy lost against West Florida Baptist Academy back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The L.E.A.D. Academy Lions came up short against the West Florida Baptist Academy Conquerors, falling 64-40. While losing is never fun, the Lions can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 731st, while the Conquerors are ranked 346th).

L.E.A.D. Academy's loss came despite strong showings from Andrew Holcomb and Silas Brown. Holcomb posted 13 points in addition to five rebounds and three steals, while Brown went 5 for 12 en route to 13 points. Those 13 points gave Brown a new career-high. Ryan Palmer also deserves some recognition as he scored his first points of the season.

Kaleb Wiggins was his usual excellent self, going 9 of 17 on his way to 23 points along with five boards and three steals for West Florida Baptist Academy. Another player making a difference was Shepard Brown, who scored 17 points and seven assists.

L.E.A.D. Academy's loss was their 14th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 4-18. As for West Florida Baptist Academy, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 15 of their last 17 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 22-4 record this season.

L.E.A.D. Academy wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 65-57 defeat against Community Christian on the 3rd. As for West Florida Baptist Academy, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Gulf Pointe Latin at 6:30 p.m.
