Carlinville has gone a perfect 10-0 against Southwestern recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Cavaliers will square off against the Piasa Birds at 7:00 p.m. Carlinville knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 31 points or more in their past six matchups -- so hopefully Southwestern likes a good challenge.
On Friday, Carlinville beat Litchfield/Mt. Olive 48-35. The Cavaliers haven't had any issues with Litchfield/Mt. Olive recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

Carlinville relied on the efforts of Tate Duckels, who picked up 154 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns, and Kip Reels, who threw for 249 yards and three TDs while completing 90% of his passes. Those 249 passing yards gave Reels a new career-high.
Carlinville was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 265 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 223 rushing yards in five consecutive contests.
On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Carlinville's defensive line and their three sacks. Noah Convery refused to say out of the backfield, picking up 1.5 sacks all by himself.
Meanwhile, Southwestern was beaten by Gillespie 36-6 on Friday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Piasa Birds have suffered against the Miners since October 19, 2018.
Carlinville will have to contain Blake Rimbey as he made an impact in Southwestern's last game. He rushed for 72 yards and one score, and also picked up 51 receiving yards. Rimbey was no stranger to the big play, connecting on a big catch that went for 51 yards.
Southwestern's defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Carlinville, their win bumped their record up to 5-1.
Everything came up roses for Carlinville against Southwestern when the teams last played back in September of 2024, as the squad secured a 40-0 victory. Will the Cavaliers repeat their success, or do the Piasa Birds have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
