Mt. Carmel falls despite strong effort from Gianni Bernabe

Recap: Mt. Carmel Sundevils vs. St. Joseph Academy Crusaders
The Mt. Carmel Sundevils pushed their score all the way to 65 on Thursday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell just short of St. Joseph Academy by a score of 68-65. Mt. Carmel has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
When it comes to explaining why Mt. Carmel lost, one person who can't be blamed is Gianni Bernabe. Despite the final result, he scored 25 points along with seven assists. Bernabe scored a full 38.5% of Mt. Carmel's points, the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Raymond Hourani was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with five rebounds and five steals.
Mt. Carmel's loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 4-7. As for St. Joseph Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 6-4.
Mt. Carmel will finish 2023 at home by hosting South Anchorage at 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday. St. Joseph Academy will be staying on the road on Wednesday to face off against Los Angeles CES at 3:50 p.m. on December 27th.
