Baseball Game Preview: Franklin County Rebels vs. Lawrence County Wildcats

For the second straight game, Franklin County will face off against Lawrence County. The Rebels will head out to square off against the Wildcats at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Franklin County is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last three games.

Franklin County took a 17-run defeat the last time they faced off against Lawrence County, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Rebels had just enough and edged out the Wildcats 2-1 on Tuesday. That's two games straight that the Rebels have won by just one run.

Robert (Gus) Gardner spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on seven hits and racked up six Ks. He has become a key player for Franklin County: the team is 4-2 when he allows at most two earned runs, but 7-13 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Franklin County saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Gavin McBee, who went 1-for-3 with one run.
