Soccer Game Preview: Byrd vs. Northshore

The Byrd Yellow Jackets will take on the Northshore Panthers in a tournament on Friday. Neither squad made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

Byrd is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Louisiana's top teams: St. Paul's, who was ranked 13th at the time (Byrd was ranked tenth). Byrd fell just short of St. Paul's by a score of 1-0 on Thursday. The loss continues a trend for the Yellow Jackets in their matchups with Wolves: they've now lost five in a row.

Meanwhile, Monday just wasn't the day for Northshore's offense. They came up short against Newman on Monday, falling 5-0.

Northshore's defeat dropped their record down to 5-3. As for Byrd, their loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 6-2-2.

Byrd beat Northshore 2-0 in their previous meeting back in November of 2022. Will Byrd repeat their success, or does Northshore have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
