Recap: Cornerstone Christian Crusaders vs. California Lutheran C-Hawks
After flying high against the Norton Science & Language Academy Rockets last Thursday, the Cornerstone Christian Crusaders came back down to earth. Cornerstone Christian suffered a rough 66-46 defeat at the hands of the C-Hawks on Friday. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Cornerstone Christian in their matchups with the C-Hawks: they've now lost seven in a row.
Cornerstone Christian lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Isaac Glinski, who scored 17 points along with seven rebounds and six steals. That was a full 37% of Cornerstone Christian's points, marking the sixth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of P.J. Taylor, who scored 17 points along with four steals.
Leading California Lutheran to victory were Colton McGee and Ethan Ash. McGee scored 14 points along with five rebounds and four steals, while Ash scored 22 points along with six rebounds and two blocks. It was the first time this season that Ash posted two or more blocks. Dumaga Orjiako was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with eight rebounds.
Cornerstone Christian's loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 9-9. As for California Lutheran, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 10-6 record this season.
Cornerstone Christian's homestand continues as they prepare to take on the Legionnaires at 4:30 p.m. on January 22nd. As for California Lutheran, they will head out on the road to take on the Patriots at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Temecula Prep has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 515 points over their last eight matchups.
