Football Recap: West Cabarrus Wolverines vs. Lake Norman Wildcats
West Cabarrus extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to four on Friday, dropping them down to 0-3. They were beaten by the Lake Norman Wildcats 56-16. The Wolverines were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Wildcats apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in October of 2024.
Despite the loss, West Cabarrus had strong showings from Camari McCrae, who picked up 110 receiving yards and one touchdown, and Dereon Beatty, who threw for 168 yards and one TD.
As for Lake Norman, their victory was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 3-0. Those home wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 14.0 points on average over those games.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. After each having a week off, West Cabarrus and Berry will shake off the cobwebs and hit the field against one another at 7:00 p.m. on the 19th. This will be the Wolverines' first chance to prove their worth in the conference. As for Lake Norman, they will head out on the road to take on Independence at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams might be coming in a bit winded given these two teams combined for 1,109 yards in their previous games.
