Turlock came tearing into Wednesday's matchup with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 3.5 runs), and they left with even more momentum. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Downey Knights a 1-0 shutout. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 4-2 on Monday.

Turlock got a great performance from Dutch Lawrence as he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over 6.2 innings pitched. Lawrence has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Turlock saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jadon Boyer, who went 2-for-4 with one RBI.

Turlock's victory bumped their record up to 18-6-1. As for Downey, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 13-14.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Turlock beat the Knights by a score of 10-1 on Friday.
