Basketball Game Preview: Salem Wildcats vs. Freeburg Midgets

Salem hasn't had much luck against Freeburg recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Salem Wildcats will challenge the Freeburg Midgets at 6:00 p.m. Freeburg took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Salem, who comes in off a win.

Salem is headed into the game after thoroughly thrashing Roxana: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Salem blew Roxana out of the water with a 64-20 final score. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory the Wildcats have posted since November 18, 2024.

Meanwhile, Freeburg lost to Columbia at home by a 40-22 margin on Monday. That's two games in a row now that the Midgets have lost by exactly 18 points.

Freeburg's loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 16-12. As for Salem, their win bumped their record up to 14-12.

Salem came up short against Freeburg in their previous matchup back in December of 2024, falling 54-46. Can Salem avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
