Softball Recap: Amundsen Wins Going Away Against Kennedy

Amundsen won against Evergreen Park last Monday with nine runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Saturday. Everything went Amundsen's way against the Kennedy Crusaders as Amundsen made off with a 9-0 win. That's more bragging rights for the Vikings, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Amundsen let Lydia Hulliberger and Kate Frey run wild. Hulliberger scored a run and stole four bases while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances, while Frey went 2-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run. Those four stolen bases gave Hulliberger a new career-high. Anneliese Otero was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.

Amundsen always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .538. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Kennedy only posted an OBP of .120.

Amundsen has started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Amundsen will challenge Francis W. Parker at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Kennedy, they will square off against Juarez at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
