Football Game Preview: Eastern Greene Thunderbirds vs. Linton-Stockton Miners

Eastern Greene is 1-9 against Linton-Stockton since October of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Thunderbirds will be playing in front of their home fans against the Miners at 7:00 p.m. Eastern Greene has given up an average of 46 points per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Eastern Greene is headed into the matchup out to prove that what happened against North Decatur on Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. The Thunderbirds took a blow against the Chargers, falling 59-14. The Thunderbirds were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 49-8.

Although Eastern Greene took the loss, they still got scores from Ayden Deckard and Luke Mcneal.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Linton-Stockton). They took their contest on Friday with ease, bagging a 54-7 win over North Knox. The victory was familiar territory for the Miners, who have now won four games in a row.

Linton-Stockton's win bumped their record up to 5-2. As for Eastern Greene, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-6.

Eastern Greene took a serious blow against Linton-Stockton when the teams last played back in October of 2024, falling 67-9. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of the Miners' Paul Oliver, who rushed for 70 yards and one score, and also threw for 69 yards and a pair of TDs.
