Baseball Recap: Jefferson Gets the Win

Jefferson extended their postseason success on Thursday against MacArthur. They skirted past the Brahmas 5-3. This was a revenge game for the Mustangs: when they faced off against the Brahmas on Wednesday, they had to take a 12-2 loss.

Aiden Urdiales made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over 6.2 innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Jefferson is 9-1 when Urdiales posts two or more runs, but 9-11-1 otherwise.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Landin Keller, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one run and one double. Those four hits gave him a new career-high. Abelardo Flores was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI.

Jefferson was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .440. They are 11-2-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Jefferson's victory bumped their record up to 18-12-1. As for MacArthur, their defeat dropped their record down to 14-18-1.

Jefferson will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Brahmas: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.
