Volleyball Recap: Monrovia Starts Season with Loss at Home

Monrovia unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They lost 3-0 to the Linton-Stockton Miners on Saturday. The Bulldogs have struggled against the Miners recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.

Monrovia was held off the scoreboard, but that almost wasn't the case: they kept the third set very close. The final score came out to 25-20, 25-8, 25-23.

Josey Kizzee paced Monrovia's offense, picking up ten kills. Kizzee got some help from Lidia Tonner and her 15 assists. Tonner also made an impact serving: she shared the team lead in aces with Allie Kizzee, racking up two apiece.

Linton-Stockton found their leader in sophomore Taylor Warrick, who had 16 digs and two assists.

Coming up, Monrovia will take on Western Boone at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Linton-Stockton, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 3-1 victory against Vincennes Lincoln on the 18th.
