Basketball Recap: Tocoi Creek Takes a Loss

After flying high against Palatka two weeks ago, Tocoi Creek came back down to earth. 2025 welcomed the Tocoi Creek Toros with a 61-40 loss courtesy of the Nova Titans on Friday.

When it comes to explaining why Tocoi Creek lost, don't look at Audrey Beyer. Despite the final result, she went 7 for 14 on her way to 20 points in addition to six boards and four blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Caeli Weaver, who posted six points.

Leading Nova to victory were Jaelynn Housey and J'Yan Tyrell. Housey put up 27 points and six steals, while Tyrell dropped a double-double on 16 points and 13 boards. Housey's evening made it ten games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Kyra Paul, who had six points and three steals.

Tocoi Creek's defeat dropped their record down to 8-5. As for Nova, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 11-3.

Tocoi Creek didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 49-29 loss against Somerset Academy - Canyons on the 4th. As for Nova, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 64-35 defeat against Montverde Academy on the 4th.
