Softball Game Preview: Oasis Sharks vs. Port Charlotte Pirates

Oasis is 0-5 against Port Charlotte since March of 2023 but things could change on Thursday. The Sharks will take on the Pirates at 7:00 p.m. Neither of those teams managed to put together many runs in their previous contests, so the offenses might be a little more motivated than usual.

Oasis came up short against Southwest Florida Christian on Tuesday, falling 18-1. The Sharks have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Oasis saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kaitlyn McGee, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Port Charlotte lost 10-1 to North Port on Wednesday. The Pirates haven't had much luck with the Bobcats recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Brianna Weidner made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one home run. That home run marked the first that she launched this season.

Port Charlotte's loss dropped their record down to 6-14. As for Oasis, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-10.

Port Charlotte's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Oasis has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .561. It's a different story for Port Charlotte, though, as they've only averaged .344. Will they be able to contain Oasis' hitters?

Oasis couldn't quite get it done against Port Charlotte in their previous matchup on Friday as they fell 11-6. Can the Sharks avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
