Basketball Recap: Pelham's Loss Ends Three-Game Winning Streak on the Road

If Pelham was feeling good fresh off their 73-12 takedown of Montevallo last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Pelham Panthers fell 58-50 to the Marbury Bulldogs on Monday. The Panthers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bulldogs apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in December of 2023.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Marbury to victory, but perhaps none more so than Gabrielle Brown, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 13 rebounds. Brown has been hot recently, having posted ten or more boards the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Justice Blackmon, who posted 13 points and three steals.

Pelham's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 6-6. As for Marbury, they pushed their record up to 9-3 with the win, which was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Pelham will face off against Mountain Brook at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Marbury, they will be taking part in a tournament against Prattville Christian Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
