Soccer Game Preview: Cherokee vs. Highlands

Cherokee hasn't had much luck against Highlands recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Braves will welcome the Highlanders at 4:00 p.m. Cherokee will be strutting in after a win while Highlands will be coming in after a loss.

Cherokee is headed in fresh off scoring the most goals they have all season. Their defense stepped up to hand Hayesville a 5-0 shutout on April 3rd. The victory continues a trend for Cherokee in their matchups with Hayesville: they've now won six in a row.

Meanwhile, Highlands was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They lost 6-2 to Swain County. While losing is never fun, Highlands can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina soccer rankings (they are ranked 371st, while Swain County are ranked 149th).

Cherokee now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Highlands, their loss dropped their record down to 4-6.
